Allow Me to Introduce Myself…

Hi, I’m Kristy. I was born and raised in small town Indiana, so I’m a hoosier. But to be honest, I have no idea what a hoosier truly is. So if you want to kick things off by enlightening me, I’m all ears!

Here are a few important things to know about me.

I love to travel.

The first time I ever set foot on an airplane was when I was 18, which also happened to be the first time I ever traveled overseas. I’ve since been to six out of seven continents and speak little bits of several languages. I now live in Thailand where I’ve been for the past two and a half years. Welcome to my life!

Southeast Asia, certainly not a direction I ever imagined I would go.

In college, I did an international internship and decided to go to Vietnam. I’m not really sure why other than it was the first place on the list that caught my eye. So I packed my bags and headed to Hue, Vietnam, where I spent the next month serving alongside a missionary family who lived there.

I learned so much during this experience. I encountered a whole new cuisine, in which I was introduced to beef noodle soup as a breakfast option. I struggled to pick up bits of an incredibly difficult language, and I was overwhelmed by the sights, smells, and sounds that surrounded me.

Although I enjoyed my time discovering this new place, I can recount two times in my life when I had a conversation with God that went something like this: “God, you’d really have to change my heart for me to serve longterm in Asia.”

One of these conversations happened in Vietnam and the other during the seven weeks I spent in China as a part of my semester abroad. My college major required me to do a lot of traveling— one of the best decisions of my life!

Okay, but do you see how well those conversations with the Lord turned out for me? I’ve now been in Thailand for two and a half years, and there’s no end date in sight. The Lord’s funny that way. Moral of that story, be careful how you negotiate with God. I’m pretty sure He takes it as a personal challenge.

It’s like He gathers a bunch of the angels together and says, “Hey guys, listen to this one. This is gonna be hilarious!”

I’m confident that the Lord has a good sense of humor. It’s one of the characteristics I’ve come to appreciate most about Him.

So, that’s a fly by of where I currently am. As for how exactly I got here, that’ll have to wait for another time.

But let me back up and say, I grew up in a Christian home with two parents who love the Lord, which was modeled to them by their parents and grandparents and so on. I come from a legacy of faith, and I’m so thankful for that legacy. For me, it wasn’t until I was 15 that I encountered the Father on a very personal level and decided to make the faith I had grown up knowing my own.

Even so, it’s been a journey of learning, listening, and often getting it wrong– only to then learn and listen some more! But the Lord has been so faithful in my life, and I look forward to sharing plenty of those moments with you!

I’m passionate about writing. I love telling stories through writing. I love creativity, DIY projects, and unique sounding music.

And I’m super passionate about coming alongside women and speaking to them about their incredible value! We are daughters of the King! My heart longs to see women know and understand who their Father is and who they are because of who He is!

So now that we’ve officially met, all I can say is I’m excited to walk this journey with you! That’s what this space is intended to be, a journey.I titled my site “On a Journey Home” because that’s what I believe we’re all on, and I firmly believe it’s one we are meant to walk with others. So that’s my heart, to share the journey with others, to walk together toward the Father, toward home.

You can follow along on this journey here or click on the “follow” button and it’ll automatically update you when there’s a new post. Feel free to comment, email, and share your journey too! I’d love to hear from you!

Let’s take this one together…
